The person who catfished him has no excuse for what they did! They destroyed this mans career and has the gall to excuse it with them being trans. It paints trans people in such a bad light. No. You messed up and did something awful. Take responsibility which means not making an excuse. They showed no remorse. Tried to act like they were the victim.

Manti on the other hand is such an incredible person. The maturity and forgivness he displayed was amazing.

The world owes this guy an apology. The media owes him an apology. I watched this and I can’t believe wtf happened to this guy and the way the internet exploded and turned on him. I’m disgusted with they way humans are I truly am. I’m a grown ass man and this made me shed a tear. After watching this documentary I can honestly say that Manti may be one of the purest, kindest people to ever live. My girlfriend and I were in tears at the end when he said “I forgive you.” I pray that from here on out life will treat you with nothing but the best. You are truly my hero Manti.

I cannot believe the cruelty that he was subjected to not only the catfish but also all the journalists publicly questioning his sexuality and trying to blame him tarnishing his name and ruining his confidence and self esteem. Have any of these journalists come out and apologised for their contribution to his suffering?

Catfishing is indeed horrible in so many ways. It can affect the victim's career, personal life, relationships, friendships, so and so forth. I don't know this case at all, however, I'm still gonna be watching this documentary. It's just so sad that he had to go through all this mess.

I watched this lastnight and was sickened that the catfish plays the victim. How its all about finding himself while he destroyed Manti's career and caused him immense pain. Such a disgusting thing to do. Criminal charges should be brought against him. At least for emotional damages. I know quite a few people who have struggled with their identity but they have never destroyed another's life in the process. Shame on him and i hope he is forever reminded how horrible of a human being he is and a terrible example for the trans community. Who would even befriend someone so dangerous as him?

I had never heard this story or had seen the memes or mocking. I was incredibly impressed with the way he handled this. This man is STRONG. You can tell he has depth and incredibly strong sense of character. He survived the whole world bullying him and it only made him stronger. I was so disgusted by the catfish, made it all about himself and was even laughing. Some people are pure evil how can you do something like that to someone else? Just watched the documentary and I gotta tell you….. Man I feel for this guy, imagine you worked for something your whole entire life and you actually were so good at it and it all taken back just because of some sick individual who is doing for it’s own pleasure and then you started questioning yourself and never be the same again. The media had a fun day with this story and the people as well. It actually tell a lot about our society as well, people love jumping to conclusion specially this sell out shameless media. I hope this guy does well wherever he is.

The depths to which Manti's catfisher sunk were truly the depths of depravity, any time he thought he did not have Manti's full attention, he devised the most depraved stories to real him back in, ie a car crash where Lemmy was in a coma, and only responded to the sound of Manti's voice, then she was diagnosed with leukaemia, and ultimately death, which was just hours after his grandmother had died. What he done to Manti should be a jail-able offence!

Let this be a reminder to check on your friends and make sure they aren't being dumb. A lot of people end up being catfished for the saddest reasons, some people choose to catfish for sad/horrible reasons. If you know someone who is catfishing someone, make them cut that shit out and get help. If you know someone who is possibly being catfished, help them face the reality that it's a possibility and make them seek out answers, before it's too late and they dive all in for someone they've never even met.
