2013 BMW 335i xDrive 0-60 MPH - TwinPower Twin-Scroll Turbo

Показать описание

The 335i xDrive's 3.0-liter TwinPower (twin-scroll) Turbo packs 24 valves, direct injection, Valvetronic, and steplessly variable valve timing. It produces 300 horsepower (HP) and 300 foot-pounds of torque.

Model tested is an 8-speed automatic. BMW spec: automatic - 4.8 seconds, manual - 5.1 seconds.

Three runs in this video, all standing start: Drive/Comfort mode with Traction Control On from idle, Drive/Sport mode with Traction Control Off from idle, and an easy launch in Drive/Sport mode with Traction Control Off.

I drove the entire week with the stop/start feature active. A quick tap restarts the engine before you need to get the business done.

The xDrive all-wheel-drive system hooks up instantly.

I like when the tach shifts instantly to the rpm in each gear!

It is a twin scroll single turbo called the n55 engine. the twin turbo inline 6 engine was called the n54 and they're only used the e89 z4's anymore and might be e84 as well

The GoPro's minimum focus distance is 12 inches, which might be okay for some cars, but not all. It needs to have variable focus. I've been thinking about the new Blackmagic pocket ...

Dan -- it sounds in the background there was clicking of paddle-shifters during acceleration.

fast car, I cannot wait until the M4 comes out with whatever they do. Possibly my next ride. Daniel, you should do a 'behind' the scenes video on how you put together a review and the 0-60 shots. Would be nice to see your rig. I wouldn't mind doing the same kind of video in my car.

Did the FR-S a while back, but haven't done either BRZ or STi.

Times are shown in the 0-60 Compare-O-Matic on the MPGomatic website. Check it out if you haven't ... it's a hoot! I need to load the 335d ...

Can't wait to see you test driving the 2014 BMW 535d, Audi A6 TDI and Mercedes E-Class Diesel :)

I find it pretty weird that they sell the 530d as the 535d in America, in Europe the 530d has 258(255 in America) HP, the 535d has 313 HP and the 550D has 381 HP

Will we see the next reviews on your channel or on autobytel?
Grettings :)

Thought it was in Sport ... :/ I have the sequence on tape and will check in the morning. (I'm in the midst of an overnight render in Final Cut.)

how about adding a digital stop watch so we all know how long it took to go from 0-60 instead of people guessing (see below--6 sec, 4.8sec, etc etc)

I'm looking forward to driving them all! :) The 335i review will run on the Autobytel channel. The next review I post in this channel will likely be the Mazda6. I've been knocking out the video edits and working with the Ain't Fuelin' Sonata for the past few weeks ...

one more question. Have you done any 0-60 tests on a brz or sti?

BMW confuses people with the way they named this engine. It's called a 'TwinPower Turbo'. Most would think this means it's got two turbos but that's not the case. It's a single turbo with twin scrolls.

now that is how you build a twin turbo

So where are the numbers in the screen 0-60

i'm pretty sure it isn't a twin-turbo, but it's a single turbo with twin-scrolls.
