un screw the tip off the brass neck but do it holding the torch upside-down and as you un screw it off go get a clean surface like a cuting board and tap the tip on it and a small disk will fall out now take a look at the disk and get a small hammer and flatten it out lick the tip of your finger then wipe it till it is moist and put your finger tip on it and it will stick to your finger tip then place it back in the tip then screw it back on but do so upside-down and then it will work

The only way I get items like that, made in China is if it's in a bulk box of crap I get in a trade.
