The PS5 Slim Is Smaller Than We Thought?

The new PS5 is out next month and with a recent comparison it looks like it might be a bit smaller than many were expecting.

I am most curious myself to see a teardown I really wanna know if they stuck with liquid metal and what the cooling system looks like. I really hope Sony does an official teardown like they did the launch ps5

I wasn’t surprised, a 30% reduction is a lot. They should have shown the console next to a tv for scale, because the shape is way too abstract on its own to tell how big it is. I also think that the flat cover of the disc drive makes it look a lot more stable in the horizontal orientation.

I have always been getting the original or 'fat' models of every ps consoles of mine... I guess its a tradition now. I got the original PSP 1000, PS3 with the Sam Raimi Spiderman 3 font, PS4 with the glossy top and PS5 Spiderman 2 limited edition (not the OG white design but still the OG model)

Honestly when I get my own PS5 I'll be fine with either console. The slim looks great, basically just a smaller and with an extra cut in the side plates. Both look great IMO, can't wait to see one in person though to really make up my mind

I have a original ps5. I showed my 8 yr old the new version ps5. “Oh that’s the new ps5? It’s slimmer? That’s for people that haven’t got a ps5 yet right. That’s cool”

I understand why others are disappointed, but that's actually perfect for me. I'll finally be able to fit it on my shelf. As it is, I can only fit it if I rotate it to the side, which looks bad and reduces the amount of space I have to side of it.

Remember when the Redbox switch came out and it was the exact same device except for a 30 minute extra battery. And everyone rushed to turn in their "old" switch. You can bet that Sony (and GameStop) are expecting people to do the exact same thing here.
