All 5 Combustion Benders in Avatar Explained!

*SPOILERS FOR THE DAWN OF YANGCHEN BOOK*

Did you know there are combustion benders from hundreds of years ago that were recently revealed? Not 1, 2, but 3 combustion benders were revealed in the Dawn of Yangchen novel. This is definitely a fan-favorite ability and it's so cool that it served as a major plot point in the book! It was a welcome surprise and I'm excited to learn more about the origins of combustion bending in the future.

Combustion Benders are my favorite I love them and the concept

it was a TEASE when the combustion bender told the shang that in the training, many applicants died by DROWNING.

cant wait for yangchen's 2nd novel. i loved her healing scenes, and the water bending main character is now joining the white lotus! so cool.

I think they developed their ability by learning to enhance their breath, hence the underwater tests and the unfortunate drownings. Firebending comes from the breath and we can see combustion benders taking way deeper breaths as they produce more powerful combustions.

Wish we had more info on Yingsu. I googled her and the thing that made me interested in the character was that she had a family of both earth benders and firebenders unless I read that wrong.
