Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Hands On - MUCH BETTER!

Yes, welcome to our first video from 2022, and what better way to start than at CES in Las Vegas. This is actually my 10th anniversary covering this show, and even if it almost got cancelled, I'm glad it didn't. We've taken our precautions, and boy did Samsung hit it out of the park with this one, like Literally. Want a private and socially distant briefing? Sure, how about the Raider's Allegiant Stadium. Want it to be open door? Sure, how about the open football field. Anyways, thank you Samsung for going all out, and now it's time for the goods.

Meet the new Galaxy S21 FE, the successor to one of the best smartphones of 2020, and which we spent all of 2021 waiting to cover. Thing is, even if this is a Fan Edition, I'm gonna say this is Samsung's best implementation yet. With Diego on Camera I'm Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow, and this is our hands-on.

S21FE seems decent but lacks the appeal that the older S20FE had. There's better competition in this price point right now and it's probably better to get the S21 or S21+ given that the S22 series is coming out soon.

2020 FE had SD card support up to 1tb so there for it is better.

I love the looks of the s21 phones! My only problem with the phones being lunched today by Samsung is the lack of an SD card slot.

I like the colors better than the S21. The problem Samsung has is the A series phones are quite good and popular. For what I need an A52 would be fine and cost less.

I have the predecessor, the S20 FE. I’m not really seeing any significant differences here ( not really expecting to year to year but still). Doesn’t seem like the value home run the S20 FE was and it being priced too close to the S21 puts it in a weird position.

Anyone else have a gut feeling this can hint that the S22 is going to be expensive and they wanted a cheaper device to soften the blow? (Please prove me wrong Sammy)

Wait a few weeks for the S22 or just get the regular S21 or S21+ which now goes for the same price or sometimes less. But for real, wait for the S22 at this point.

What I take away from this smartphone:

Samsung does not listen to its community, an FE (Fan Edition) without memory card support, jack port, no charger in the box and others.

The price ($700) which is the same as the S21 currently.

But above all I realize that Samsung could and can add at least 300mAh to all of its smartphones for much better battery life, but it's just a matter of non-existent will.

This is not a worthy FE, if it is, than slab an SD card slot and 5000mah battery, now that's worth the money

Doesn't come with a Charging Brick Either.

I bought my kids the S20FE last year and they seem to really enjoy them. Also I have season tickets to that venue, so yeah, the view is amazing!!

If Samsung put pricing lower for this FE21 then it’s sales of S22 (base model) could be hampered that’s why Samsung puts more tag as it’s available for tighter budget who don’t want to spend on upcoming S22 or maybe upcoming A & M series sales continue to grow?

I would take the S20 FE over the S21 FE for the older snapdragon 865 (performance is still excellent) and cheaper price. The snapdragon 888 cannot sustain performance without thermal throttling. Paper spec improvements of the 888 do not translate into superior real life performance. Infact, i would say it is worse. The 2022 snapdragon appears to be much of the same. I would rather take the snapdragon 870, 865, 865+; Dimensity 1200 and potentially the newest Exynos over the newer crop of snapdragon processors.

In a time where the pixel 6 is $599. This phone is to expensive and too late when the s22 is right around the corner
