One way I've gotten around the bootstrap process in my own workflow is to do debian automated installs with preseed scripts, and I use the preseed scripts to pull in external bash scripts and do my postinstall config automatically. it works really well.

This is a really high level topic and you kind of hit on it, but potential project ideas for a homelab. I have set up a pfsense router, wordpress webserver, a plex media server, a pihole dns blocker, and a simple samba share as a NAS. I am going to try setting up a nextcloud server, but I can't think of any other projects. What other project ideas are there? How would you recommend setting these thngs up to build skills? For exampleI have set up a Wordpress website server in both an Ubuntu VM and I used a wordpress turnkey container (which is totally cheating). And I would love to learn more about cloud-init. I have tried to use this in proxmox and can't seem to figure this one out. Look forward to that. Thanks for the great content.

Misleading description, was expecting to see some demos based on the description but there isn't a single console window to be seen in hour long video. Maybe a target audience at the start of the video/description? In my opinion this video is a waste of time for anyone who grasps the concept of agentless endpoint management systems.
