But because Christianity has so many branches, some were raised Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc. We all know Christianity isn’t the only religion around that has been tested and changed for a different audience that stands aside from the traditional demands of a spiritual life. However, not all religions are good. They either cause people to believe things about themselves or the world that aren’t true and could be very well be destructive, if not dangerous. It’s hard to tell why someone would join a cult, especially one that encourages people to disengage from their friends and family and even encourage suicide or other self-harming practices.
Just as regular people can get involved in cults, it doesn’t mean that celebrities aren’t immune to getting drawn in. In this video are ten celebrities who were raised in cults. Since when are the Rainbows considered a cult...? I've met Rainbows before at Dead shows and they were always very nice. One even helped out a friend of mine when this other guy tried to get handshake with her when she was too high to push him away, he saw it happening in the guys car when he went to go to the bathroom and she said if it weren't for him she would have been raped most likely. The asshole who tried that shit with her wasn't a Rainbow, btw...

I read about a kid who was in the cult "Children of God" and was continuously molested by his caretaker growing up. The caretaker was encouraged by the parents to sexually molest him. He grew up so traumatized that he found the caretaker, killed her and committed suicide himself. It was a sad case.

I was raised in a Christian cult and left when I was 18 due to them not helping me when my uncle beat the living day lights out of me. I told people and they didn't listen to this day I wish I would've went to the police about it.

The last one, Amanda Barry, was NOT found only with her daughter by the abductor, but also with two other young women, whom he also had locked up for years. Amanda just got a ton more publicity as her parents were able to spend much more time and money to have kept her in the news with their continued search for her. One of the young women was actually a friend of the abductor's daughter and had gotten into the car with him because she had known him. There is a full documentary on this one.

Damn. River pheonix. I use to watch Stand By Me everyday when I was a kid. I had a huge crush on him. It came out in 1986, he was 15 (according to wiki). They left the cult in the late 70's. Wiki also includes that he said he lost his virginity at the age of 4. Fuck, this makes me so fucking sad.
