In my fanfic during the chaos of the Hate Plague Event, Ratchet wound up inside a one seater escape pod. As the pod rocketed away from Earth it experienced significant turbulence, the rattling leading to Ratchet bumping his head, KO'd. When he came too he discovered himself inside Bombshell & Scorponok's fortress on Chaar. Apparently Ratchet's pod drifted randomly through space for decades until it crashed onto the desolate little planetoid. Why wasn't Ratchet panicking upon finding himself in the company of so many Decepticons? Because he couldn't remember anything, his own name included. The strike to his noggin gave him amnesia. Seeing an opportunity to acquire a new lab assistant Bombshell convinced Ratchet he was a Decepticon scientist & had previously served under Scorponok's command. Ratchet ate up every lie Bomb fed him. Overtime he adopted a new, green spiky appearance and, following an incident with a two headed mutant Dragotron/Scraplet hybrid, a monocle optic. In addition to helping Bombshell in his experiments Ratchet served as their base's physician, becoming well liked amongst the crew for his bedside manner being far better than their prior medic Flatline. As for names, Ratchet began calling himself Doc Lock, influenced by strange dreams he'd have about people named Lock (Lockdown) & Doc (his Autobot self). Doc Lock occasionally acts as Battletrap's on the call doctor, traveling to his personally owned restaurant/hotel on Tapus Z4 to patch up the malicious little Duocon after his illegal business ventures would go south. Which they did pretty regularly. Battletrap, being slightly paranoid, refuses to trust any other physician.
