Connect Shipping Containers Without Welding!

Follow along in this video as we showcase how to cut a shipping container in HALF for our NEW concept for connecting two or MORE 40-foot shipping containers together!

For the first time ever, Channing thinks he's found a way to safely use WOOD on a shipping container. It is not as easy as cutting out the center walls and pushing them together. It’s a lot more difficult than that, but we have a new concept kit that makes this process easier!

This center-split container will be used as an underground mining office, but you can use a double wide sea container for many purposes. You can convert this sea can building into a container house, garage, workshop or whatever you would like to modify it into. It is a 20' x 16' OR 40' x 16' structure, so you have a lot more room to create what you want!

They key is to have them made like that from the jump!!! Great idea 💡

All of your ideas are great, This idea is the greatest so far. Keep it up.

Very interesting! But I have to say my initial impression is that it's a lot of work for little benefit. Two whole standard containers beside a middle high cube has to be less work for more area. Perhaps opening up the high cube's ceiling to get an even more vaulted look (given the needed roof pitch) might pay off ? Perhaps straddling the middle with 20' units to get one larger room ?? In any case, accommodating a standard roof structure of varying pitches has got to be a winning idea. That and exterior siding and insulation.

I am here as Nate asked us to support you. Shipping containers are cool.

Sounds like an idea worth exploring, alright. Thanks for your efforts toward this end.

Such a great idea I'm sure it will be a success. I envision a jig that bolts together down the center of the container, that serves to stabilize the center of the container while the container is being cut, as well to help guide the cut. Seems like welding is overkill. I know people don't want to use lumber, but you could figure out how to re-use the lumber after the halves are separated and joined to the central container.

Another great idea. Deff outside the box...

I'd love to do this, with two 40ft high cubes side by side and the regular 40's cut in two on both sides, would be a nice layout. Mind you I'm 21 with no experience or knowledge in this but I plan on it🤣

Love your videos very informative. A few questions.

Are side opening containers stronger?
As in do they have extra reinforcement on the side the doors are on?
Would they be easier to join together?

As a mere interested viewer, I think the attraction here is the outer cladding in wood making the whole thing less industrial and grim.

Question. With the wood stud brackets giving you an outdoor area to frame, can you insulate the outside of the container without issues with condensation inside/outside the container. Just spitballing here. Have an idea of placing 3x 40’ high cube containers together for a acreage/cabin setting. Interior 2x walls would not be fully opened. Offset door ways if you can visualize that.
Thoughts?

To build the split container, they basically need to build them half wide, join them together like you did and the only inconvenient would be adding a few load bars to take the stress from the part where the corrugated sheet is missing in the middle of the container, at the joint.

Do you have thoughts on connecting a 40ft conex to a 70ft double wide? I want to make it our mud room

Are y'all going to transport that thing altogether or is it going to be in sections? You said it was going underground does that mean it's going to be buried or is it going down into a mine of some sort? Just curious that's all

do have a episode on drop down to be a floor or raise up to be a roof construction

What if you put two standard height cans (not cut in half) with a high cube in the middle? Would that end up with a decent pitch for the roof?

I very interested in the split container on the sides of the 40ft high cube. How are you attaching these

Very cool. You could buy a couple Shore's that are used in concrete.
Google " shore for concrete" its a inter sliding steel support beam you adjust easily with a hammer.
So basically 4 or 6 shores inside the container before cutting. They hold ALOT of weight. They are used when concrete companies build a multi floor concrete building to keep the concrete from sagging with its weight while it drys.
Just a thought. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Love your work sir.👍🏻
