Across Europe on 12 TRAINS!🚞(Orient Express for LESS?)

Watch this video to see what it’s like to travel across Europe on 12 Trains from Venice to London! But instead of taking just one, we traveled on some of Europe’s most famous trains.

Of course, the most well known rail link between these two cities is the world famous Orient Express. But with tickets starting at about $4,500 for just one night, we figured we’d do the Orient Express for less while making even more memories along the way.

But, in order to match the five star feeling as best we could, we booked First Class accommodations every chance we got. And we’ll keep a running tally to see whether we saved money on this DIY Orient Express. We’ll also share a Train Travel Tip or three we picked up along the way so if you choose to make the same trip, you’ll have an easier time than us!

Our first leg is onboard a brand new Frecciarossa 1000 high speed train! And, not only that, we’ll be in “Executive Class,” which is a true First Class Train.

From there, we’ll try out Business Class on another Frecciarossa train. After that, we were on an Italian Regional Train, Tren Nord.

Then, we took the world famous Bernina Express train up into Switzerland. Or at least that was our plan and this trip didn’t go according to plan! Due to a last minute cancellation, we had to take a Swiss Commuter Train instead. And we also had plenty of unexpected “replacement buses,” too! But, eventually, we reached Saint Moritz.

The next travel day put us onboard the world’s “slowest express train,” the Glacier Express train from St. Moritz to Zermatt.

This offered some of the most stunning scenery we’ve ever encountered from a train, but it was also almost too much. Eight hours of nonstop visual overload on Swiss Trains left us tired. But that didn’t stop us from exploring the Swiss Alps.

From Zermatt, we did our best to reach Paris, but the Swiss Trains had a few more surprises in store for us! But, eventually we reached Lausanne and the TGV Lyria, which we’d booked in First Class to Paris!

From Paris, we’d booked the Eurostar in Business Premier on to London. But, naturally, even our last travel day wasn’t without hitches.

This was our most ambitious trip ever! And, the video started with more than five hours of raw footage, which we condensed into our longest video, yet. At 40+ minutes, it’s a risk, but we hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!

Here’s a link to more information about how we booked these trains:

Maybe one day they'll do the Orient Express, but holy moly the price is insane. Also the budget version seemed more fun and stressful but allowed more time to enjoy the places you stopped overnight

I seriously can't understand why this channel hasn't exploded to 50M+ subscribers. The videos Jeb and Suzanne have been putting out have been excellent quality. I honestly believe they need their own Travel Channel show!

A tip for rail travel in Europe: Get an Interrail/Eurail Pass! You can use almost all non-tourist trains with it. You need to make a seat reservation for some trains, but that’s still substantially cheaper than always booking the full ticket on short notice.

The Hakone Tozan Railway partnered with Switzerland's Rhaetian Railway in 2013 through a "Sister Railway Agreement" to celebrate their shared heritage as scenic mountain railways. This partnership focuses on cultural exchange, joint marketing, and technical collaboration. The railways promote each other's routes, hold joint events, and share expertise in managing mountainous terrains. The partnership boosts tourism, enhances global visibility, and commemorates the rich history of both railways, aiming to attract tourists from Japan and Switzerland to experience these iconic rail journeys.

As a Swiss, I have to add that you guys were very unlucky with cancellations / delays - usually not the case at all - keep in mind that there was lots of flooding mid-June and that was most likely the main reason for your journey trough Switzerland being a little more “fluid” 😂

In Britain nothing instills fear in a rail passenger, than getting to a station and there being a rail replacement bus service, the pain is very real.

This one by far for me was the best from you guys. I know you wanted all train, but the buses added so much to the experience.

I kept hearing "Toronto" instead of "Tirano" and thought European train travel had gone futuristic. 😆

I worked as a tour guide in the Swiss Alps for two years and the trains area. huge part of how the Swiss get around, a lot of my friends did nto own cars and if they did they would rarely use them. Teh Swiss rail system is coordinated with Post Auto (Swiss Bus) and it's possible to get from the smallest village on end of the country to a small village in the other end of the country only using rail and bus. If it was nto for massive rains they had this spring and summer that damaged tracks your Swiss rail journey would have been flawless and on time to the minute..

Luxury travel videos are fun as I’m not in a position to afford
But the (sometimes unintentional) adventurous ones where you roll with the situation are always fun. You two keep your cool and just seem to be enjoying it and fun to watch

What I find the most fascinating is the evidence of all the OLD Landslides and basically half a mountain eroding away! The power of time and nature. That really gives one a new perspective on the longevity of mountains!

I enjoy the banter between Jeb and Suzanne as much as I enjoy their trips. You guys are so entertaining to watch even when you are dealing with unforseen obstacles along the way. Have a wonderful autumn 🍂 🍁.

As an Italian, I'm very glad you enjoyed our trains (we do have undisputedly the best high speed railway system/network in the world especially in the Northern regions). You are always welcome. Grazie mille, e siete sempre i benvenuti !!!

Difference between a tourist and a traveller. A traveller just rolls with humps along the way. Thanks for sharing. Really enjoyed it.

Tip for future travel/videos in Switzerland. Basel has 2 main train stations. The SBB, which is Swiss, and the Badischer Bahnhof, which is actually a German exclave entirely inside Switzerland. Pre Schengen Agreement, there was a border crossing checkpoint inside the train station. Basel's airport (Euro Airport) is really located in France. It is the only airport in the world run by two countries (Switzerland and France) and has two different airport codes (BSL and MLH, which stands for Mulhouse). So you can actually fly into BSL and out of MLH. Pre Schengen Agreement, this airport also had a border crossing in the check in hall. One side of the airport is Swiss and the other is French. There are two sets of rental car counters (one Swiss and one French), two sets of roads to and from the airport, two sets of customs exits from the baggage claim, etc. If you want to explore a new airline, Air Transat flies its A321 LR from Montreal to Basel. Basel is also an EasyJet hub, so it's easy to fly practically anywhere in Europe direct. Lastly, there is a tunnel for cars connecting the German cities of Loerrach and Weil am Rhein. However, the tunnel runs entirely underneath Swiss soil. The Swiss got tired of Germans using a shortcut through Switzerland to travel from one to the other, so a tunnel was built.
