CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Frida (Salma Hayek) admits her affair with Leon Trotsky (Geoffrey Rush) to Diego (Alfred Molina), then berates him for his infidelities.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
After being attached to a number of actors, directors, and producers, this long-gestating biography of one of Mexico's most prominent, iconoclastic painters reaches the screen under the guiding hand of producer/star Salma Hayek. Hayek ages some 30 years onscreen as she charts Frida Kahlo's life from feisty schoolgirl to Diego Rivera protégée to world-renowned artist in her own right. Frida details Kahlo's affluent upbringing in Mexico City, and her nurturing relationship with her traditional mother (Patricia Reyes Spindola) and philosophical father (Roger Rees). Having already suffered the crippling effects of polio, Kahlo sustains further injuries when a city bus accident nearly ends her life. But in her bed-ridden state, the young artist produces dozens upon dozens of pieces; when she recovers, she presents them to the legendary -- and legendarily temperamental -- Rivera (Alfred Molina), who takes her under his wing as an artist, a political revolutionary, and, inevitably, a lover. But their relationship is fraught with trouble, as the philandering Rivera traverses the globe painting murals, and Kahlo languishes in obscurity, longing to make her mark on her own. Frida was directed by Julie Taymor, whose Broadway production of The Lion King won her international acclaim.

She didn't break his heart. She hurt his pride and ego. He probably doesn't understand the difference since it still hurts a lot.

That he cheated on her with her own sister was awful. But he also held her back in her career and that is unforgivable.

I wouldn't call what Diego and Frida had love, more like a toxic, dysfunctional codependency between two messed up, unstable people. Then again, that was where their artistic genius came from I guess.

When we watched this scene in class and he said, "You've broken my heart, Frida, " everyone in the class laughed and guffawed so much we missed a good chunk of the rest of the scene trying to get over how ridiculous it was. Coming from HIS mouth? Hypocrisy in its most potent form, ha!

My reaction when I first saw this scene. "Well Diego. You caused a lot of pain on Frida since you refused to stop cheating on her. She chose to cheat back on you and now you know how it feels."

Funny how the tables turned and he was hurt. That's crazy isn't it? I always admire Frida she had a lot of strength.

I still can’t get over the fact they still insisted on showing her as conventionally pretty like Frida was beautiful but the woman loved depicting herself with her unibrow and the slight hair on her upper lip yet they still insisted on making Salma Hayek pretty here cause people couldn’t handle a few mustache hairs on her.

I love Salma Hayek playing Frida, nobody could of played a better Frida. I love how she says “Go to hell, Diego!”

I mean I think Frida didn't care so much about him cheating with the models, but her sister? That was a blow for her. Plus, Diego cheats too so can he really complain?

It's so crazy how much Salma Hayek looks like Frida in this movie. And the guy playing Diego Rivera was really good as well.

Frida love that man with every fiber in her being but he broke her heart and that was there Down fall . I love Frida her pain was tragic but her art through her pain was captivating.

Oh wow I never seen this movie before but I definitely can relate to it. I had an ex boyfriend who cheated on me with my sister countless of times, I thought my sister and I were close. When I found out it took place in my apartment, around the time she needed somewhere to stay I was completely outraged, and told her to get her things and get out. Haven't spoken to her since. As for him his best friend came to me one day and told me what my ex has done, spilling his secrets but some I already knew. Anyway his friend invited me over but we didn't do much. When my ex found out I was over there with his friend, He was beyond angry, he yelled at me and asked my why. I told him "hurts doesn't it" as he sat on his knees and cried. He hates me to this day.

Salma Hayek and Alfred Molina were perfect for these roles.

It's sad that she couldn't settle with a decent guy her age.. this controlling old man sadly got his hold on her. Talk to anyone who escapes these type of men and they'll confirm it isn't love. Felt so bad for her☹

The whole point of this clip is contrast between a man who left his lover for his wife's sake and one who didn't, demonstrated first in the disdainful eye of the wife, then the regretful eye of the lover Trotsky.  You cut the wife's look too short.  This scene in the courtyard (their home) contrasts with the jealous argument in the street (outside home) where Diego can only see Trotsky leaving safety for no good reason, and Frida understanding he did it for love which Diego can't comprehend.

It was impossible to think of Salma Hayek as just a beautiful face after this movie. She’s got serious acting chops.
