Quick tip: for people who've beat the game and are in NG+.

The sacred relic sword's (final boss remembrance option) ash of war onetaps the entire hill in a single go. Gets you about 60-90K runes every 10-12 seconds.

An extra bonus, off to the left side is a cliff and you can see a big bird walking around, shoot it once with an arrow and he’ll run right off the edge and that’s an easy 13k runes

And to everyone who doesn't like pvp you don't have to do his quest line to get to the secret area. Look up how to find or search yourself for the 2 pieces of the secret medallion you can use at the grand lift of rold it will take you to the forbidden grounds (or named something along those lines) fight the gargoyle and it'll take you to the snowy area. There is teleporters there that will take you to the haligrad tree and the area shown in the video (I'm awful with area names im sorry) I've seen a lot of people saying that you have to do his quest line to reach these optional areas and it's just not true

The giant bird opposite the cliff side is easier farm for the lower level especially when you don't have OP spells & dmg coz you don't have to fight it at all. Just shoot it with arrow and he'll got aggro and run towards you falling down the cliff ... 13k per run with scarab

So, to add to this already amazing farm, once you will all of these guys, you will eventually come across a couple of those red dudes up above walking back and forth, and they’re really close together. If you’re a mage or have a build that uses magic at all, you could get the Glinstone Arc spell and continuously send it out. It stings them every single time it hits, so if you do it correctly, you can kill all of them without worrying about them running you over. I hope this helps!

If you use your bow you can shoot a bird that is beneath the cliff. That also gives a ton of runes

I use the weapon art for the starscourge GS and I clear them all in around 20 seconds. About 40k runes per run averaging to about 120k per minute

Naturally, I didn't realize the item at the end of that quest teleported you, so I have had it and didn't use it, I genuinely thought it was a key fo an area I hadn't been to yet... This game has found a new way to hurt me every single day... I love it.

@Rage, I have tried quite a few of these rune farming techniques and i will say, this one is the most beneficial for newer players to the series. Very easy to get setup and continue to grind it, the longbow is critical for the bird.
