The Fort Raigad was the Capital of Maratha emperor Shri Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Though the fort was seized from Chandrarao More in 1656, the construction of this fort was started in 1030. Then the Fort was known as Rairi.
Shri Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj lived on this fort for more than 10 years, along with Ramdas Swami and his solders.
What makes this fort special is its isolation from the Deccan range of hills and only one access way to climb this fort.
