Canadians are taking the 51st state talk very seriously, and are extremely angry about it. It has permanently damaged this relationship. If anyone thought it was 'Funny' you are dead wrong and have no idea what you've done.

Yes, Canadians take the president’s words seriously. He said he was going to take Canada using economic force. Canada is ready to fight for it’s independence and the long term consequences are catastrophic for the US/Canada relationship.

Tariffs also violate USMCA so the US can’t be trusted in trade deals that they agree to.

Elbows up!

Full on angry done. I will never think of the USA the same way again. Your MAGA voters smugness is disturbing. Your going to be very lonely and hated worldwide.

What escapes America is the realization that the Canada/USA relationship is OVER. The disrespect shown to your closest ally who has shed blood shoulder to shoulder, who's economies and families have been intimately entwined, who shared the longest undefended border in the world, is not only a tragedy but UNFORGIVABLE. Give your collective heads a shake. Over the boards and ELBOWS UP!

As a Canadian, if you are Canadian or American, understand that many times boycotting a product can have an effect both sides of the border. For instance, Pepsi may well be an American company however the aluminum for the cans likely came from Canada, there is also a distributor and bottling company in Canada that employs Canadians. A Pepsi boycott may well hurt Pepsi's bottom line but the casualties would be the bottling concern closing in Canada. We are too intertwined that is why tariffs will have the same "hurt us both" effect. Even if the US wins the trade war. The reward will be higher prices on everything. I am pretty certain that is the opposite of what you voted for.

My god, she is a stupid right winger, , Dairy is not a monopoly.. It is a quota system under supply management with a limited amount of milk produced nationally to maintain prices and the viability of producers. The politics of which province get most of the quota is skewed in Quebecs favor. To produce milk you buy a quota if it becomes available. I am a free market capitalist and not a fan of supply management but it is not a monopoly. The alternative is a US system that gives direct payments to producers from the federal government for excess milk to keep farms in business and perpetuate the over supply, not capitalist in any way either

If it's reciprocal i guess we have nothing to worry about since we had practically zero tariffs on US goods.

Hello it's not a tax on canada. American importers will be paying the tariff and passing it along to the american consumer.

Marked as spam. Here in Canada, we're not bracing for Americans to have increased taxes.

I’m not bracing for anything. We are not scared.

When you include both goods AND services, the US has a trade SURPLUS with Canada. When you subtract oil, the US even has a GOODS SURPLUS. You buying our oil does not suddenly create a magical requirement that we buy more stuff from you. If you want a perfect balance in goods traded, just buy less oil. No one is forcing you to buy it!

It's not "Patriotism" in the American sense: there is a pride in our unity, for sure, but really our reaction is just heartfelt DETERMINATION to defy those in America who daily threaten to destroy our country, end our way of life, and 'annex' our citizens. This is nothing like the jingoistic "we're the greatest" kind of pride you see down there.

He started to do this last time. There is no 3rd term. Where do people get this? Just stop buying American crap. We make cars for ourselves in Ontario. I have one. We have our own everything. Just ignore him he will go away. Just a temporary employee if you will.

Sandwiched as it now is between two hostile powers (Russia to the north and America to the south), Canada needs to withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), and (BWC) and like France, have its own means of deterrence. "Sovereignty is not something that you ASK other nations to respect, you need to make it in their EXISTENTIAL INTEREST to do so". (D.R.)

if trump bothered to read the plan he created, signed and claimed to be the best agreement between the allies, he would know how does those Canadian tariffs work.
