I've reached the end of my tether with the Freeview guide in my LG 4k smart TV, it is unbelievably slow to populate and doesn't populate in the background like most other Freeview guides.

Hello again Alan, I have now bought the T3-R recorder and I'm still finding my way around its many features.

Last night I watched your clip again and spotted a glaring omission. When you were commenting on the connectors at the rear you totally ignored the optical out feature. This would be most useful to many folk to either connect the device to a soundbar or in my case, connect to my Yamaha AV amp.

And I can confirm, the tuner of my TV works perfectly well with the T3-R switched off, one just has to enable 'loop through' in the settings menu.

Nice review. I like the UI. Almost as good as my Toppy with MyStuff. Never seen anything approaching that. But this box seems quite speedy, and the UI looks good.

I just need a bit of help. Why does the machine say that HDD is full? I just can't clear it. My machine shows it's recording on BBC 1 and BBC 1 HD at the same time, but I never get 2 recordings.Any ideas please??

An interesting clip. I’ve had my Manhattan for less than 24 hours and I’m very happy with it. Obviously some things to get to grips with, especially the BBC text service. It looks like Manhattan are using the wi-fi function to show viewers what they would see if they’d viewed the BBC app on their iPads or PCs. A good idea when you think that the actual BBC text service could be scrapped at any time. Alfred O’Coyle

Thanks for that but from what I have read, if one goes into the Settings one can switch Loop through 'On' thus enabling you to watch the TV when the Manhattan is on standby, just like my current Humax T2

Made the jump from Sky Q to T3R last year when the box was launched, and so pleased I am free from Sky now 😁
Box is nice and responsive, a few features may be missing (did like multi room with Sky), but you soon get used to it.
Had an issue with HDCP error from Denon x2500h amp when 4k was selected on T3R but Manhattan support was fantastic, they replicated the issue and sent me a new firmware to test within a couple of days, which resolved the issue. Have contacted them a couple more times and they are always eager to fix your problems. Imagine trying to get Sky to fix a problem like that 😣
Agree with comments about the remote and the need to pair it with another streaming box if you can. I had a Harmony remote anyway, and a 4k fire tv stick for Netflix and Amazon prime, so I'm happy with my setup and the fact I am no longer paying Sky subs every month 👍

I'm stuck which one to get as I hear bad things and good things about this box and the Humax Aura. Was wondering which is best? The Aura has 2tb but I heard its not good at lip-sync, Its also slow and crashes a lot. If you can help thanks

Excellent review, thank you. For me it was either a Humax or a Manhattan...I think you have convinced me I should go the Manhattan route. One thing, around 11:30 you say that if you only wish to watch via the TV tuner, you can only do so if you switch on the PVR or you get no aerial feed. This surely cannot be correct, my Panasonic & LG can both be switched off (on standby) but I can still watch just my TV. Please advise.

How does rewind live tv work? I assume that means the box is constantly recording? Does that not Shorten the HDD lifespan and more importantly what about noise, if the HDD is constantly spinning is it loud? Is there an option to turn off rewind live TV and have a quite box that only makes noise when you pause/record something manually?

Can it go frame by frame when watching a recorded show?

I'm on my 2nd BT Youview box in about 3 years. The current one I've had for a year and it's playing up, when I record on it, the recordings are jerky and pixilated and the remote won't respond well, I think it's kaput, so I'm thinking about getting this Manhattan box, maybe the 500GB version.

What speed can this fast forward and rewind? My current Humax Freesat box can go at 64x. Thinking of replacing it as I've had it 12 years and it's a bit dated.

We are about to give up BT Tv due to cost. We had sky, then went to BT. At the time the freeview and freesat boxes for around £150 were crap. Now i'm looking at this and the humax 5000t. I was hoping this box would have netflix but sadly not :( I was hoping to get rid of the roku box that is currently plugged into the tv as well as the bt box. Might have to go with the slow, humax 5000t.

How does this compare to the Humax Aura?. The Aura seems to have a far better list of features (like chrome cast built in) but people have been having lots of issues with them and it seems like it was released before it was ready. Split between this with a chrome cast or the all in one Aura
