How to set up WordPress to show only a portion of the blog post text for each post on pages like your home or blog posts page, categories, tags, and other pages that show your posts in a list.

By choosing a theme that supports displaying a post summary or excerpt, you're able to choose whether to display a full post or summary of each post. Skip to 1:00 to start here.

Learn how to find and set this theme option in the appearance menu to get your posts displaying with only a the first paragraph or two of content.

Manual excepts are used by some themes instead of the first few lines of your post. Learn how to set the manual excerpt for each post, starting at 2:07 in the video.

Alternatively, if you're theme doesn't have this option we have the 'read more' tag.
