Israel's invasion of Gaza is having serious repercussions for its economy with it receiving its first ever credit downgrade. So in this video we'll explain what's happening, why it was under pressure before the war began and whether they can recover.

Our mission is to explain news and politics in an impartial, efficient, and accessible way, balancing import and interest while fostering independent thought.

TLDR is a completely independent & privately owned media company that's not afraid to tackle the issues we think are most important. The channel is run by a small group of young people, with us hoping to pass on our enthusiasm for politics to other young people. We are primarily fan sourced with most of our funding coming from donations and ad revenue. No shady corporations, no one telling us what to say. We can't wait to grow further and help more people get informed. Help support us by subscribing, engaging and sharing. Thanks!

Netanyahu government:
- Has long corruption charges running against its figurehead.
- Proposes new laws that undermine the rule of law, which leads to destabilization of the country and mass protests.
- "Not only tolerates, but encourages" Qatari cash payments to Hamas in a ill-advised divided and conquer strategy and because the Hamas threat helps the Israeli right wing win elections.
- While posing as the defenders of Israel's security, actually underestimates security risks and neglects intelligence that a massive terrorist attack is about to take place.
- Responds to this attack with disproportional brutal violence that brings the local economy to a stillstand and damages the international reputation of the country.
- Has cabinet members who constantly say extremely racist stuff, the finance minister being one of, if not the, worst

- Only complains, complains, complains and complains about being treated unfairly and never admits any wrongdoing, not even when quite logically the country's credit rating is downgraded a tiny bit.

The Australian labour government recently sacked one of there own senator. Honourable Fatima Payman because she voted with the greens. To recognise the Palestine as a independent nation. Good on her for NOT backing down. SHAME on the Australian labour Party.

The Americans will pick up the tab. They can always find the money for overseas wars (but can't find the money to spend at home for universal healthcare, support for the poor etc).

Bibi will never end the war, he knows he'll be vulnerable if the war end or enter a prolong ceasefire.

I'm surprised Israel didn't accuse Moody's of antisemitism.

Calling this a "war" is like a heavyweight champ decking an infant and saying it was a "fair fight."

Council on Foreign Relations, January 23, 2024
"Israel has been the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. foreign aid since its founding, receiving about $300 billion (adjusted for inflation) in total economic and military assistance"
The idea that this polity can continue to exist, when it's a bottomless money pit, is absurd

I discovered the other day that I had a 0.5% stock equity in an Israeli company that was posing like a US company. I sold that shit faster than I usually pull out.

Why do they need to worry about funding or their economy, The US would literally just bail them out or send them another multi-billion dollar a package. Or maybe Netanyahu will go to the US Congress again and demand that the US just send him a blank check.

Calling this a “war” is like saying “special military operation” - call it what it is.
