Dvořák (arr. Fischer) - 'Goin' Home' for Cello and Piano

Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9, "From the New World" is among the most well known works in the classical music canon. And the beautifully haunting melody from the Largo is the best known melody of the work. It was extracted and turned into a spiritual called "Goin' Home" by William Arms Fischer during Dvořák's lifetime, and this recording uses that version, assigning the melody to the signing voice of the cello.

Truly beautiful, that pianist was balanced above his instrument like a great grass hunting cat, twining his music around that of the cellist who was playing like a strong yet delicate looking springbok grazing on the plains. Perfectly balanced.
