Exposing the Toxic Myth About Shipping Containers!

A huge concern amongst first time container buyers is that the floor of their container is a toxic hazard. There have been many studies done to debunk that myth. What are your thoughts?

I have worked on container ships for 2 decades. I’m currently a Captain. I would never trust the wood in the container for a home. I have 4 containers on my property. They are fine for storage. The problem is that containers are used all over the world. I have had to deal with leaking containers many times. There is also a problem with undeclared hazardous materials being transported, often in incorrect containers.

The container you tested didn’t have anything but that doesn’t mean every container is safe. They ship anything and everything in these containers, and it only takes somethings leaking and seeping into the floorboards once. Id rather replace it then test it

You can definitely spray it with Kilz as well just to seal it

If it really was dangerous. I’d have all kinds of breathing and health issues. So would hundreds of thousands of other people because of all the times that we’ve spent in shipping containers moving around in the military.
