I've gone back to restoring and riding vintage bikes, they're so much more fun and cost effective than bikes of today, the cranksets of the past were particularly beautiful.

I used to have a very similar bike, the Peugeot Oxford, and I loved this bike. I bought it in the early '90s until eventually the frame gave in, that was in 2019. I upgraded it over the decades with new parts but it was always the perfect companion for my commuter and daily shopping rides. Still miss it!

As someone (amateur DIY bike repair) who had to replace a 21 speed drivetrain AND a 7-speed freewheel hub (two different bikes), I can tell you 7 speeds are not easy to find these days. After having TWO orders cancelled, I had to settle for a Decathlon freewheel hub. No bike shop had it anymore. The 7-speed cassette for the 21-speed drivetrain was not much easier to find; I ended up keeping it and just replacing the sprockets. One other thing I had to keep was the old derailleur: the bike frame (which did not have space for a 8-speed cassette) did not have a place for the derailleur, which is attached directly to the wheel axle (it's also a pain to install, also being a quick-release system). I never found out how to dismantle the derailleur either; thankfully it still works. It was a free bike, so I don't complain, but it's tough to re-install the back wheel anytime something needs to be done.

It is still nice to learn stuff to repair bikes however. It takes time, but saves on 25 euro trips to the bike shop (sometimes for repairs of the wrong thing...).

I just love this video. Superb photography, good lighting. No background music is absolutely fine. Love those mechanical beats here and there.

Bravo! Nice to have the tutorial minus background music.

Vintage, eh…I still have an Apollo Prestige 21 speed road bike I bought new in 1983! Still rides amazingly well. With your lessons, I can keep it in even better condition. Grazie, Danny!

I was so looking forward to you taking it for a short test ride and commenting on the performance, or the customer's reaction.

No music is perfect, there's a guy who does great work on YouTube and he doesn't talk at all and his videos are great.

Please keep making videos like this one, I love this style of video, you did a amazing job with that bike, I would Glady own and use it as an everyday commuter bike. It's amazing what some hard work can do, most people would pass on and toss the bike, but that bike will probably last for many years to come.

Better without music. Love the sound of tools and work taking place. We are not in an elevator, so don't need music 😁
