Ban private equity and foreign investors from buying residential homes. Boom problem fixed.

I was house poor when I bought in 2019. Now I’m inflation poor, my groceries are more than my mortgage (family of 5).

What do you do when they keep jacking up rent to a point of unaffordability? Rent at $2500/month is insane to me.

You should be able to live comfy with 3000 dollar a month and buy a house. simple as that. but in the USA you can live a normal life with that it seems. In Europe you would be so okay, like a house car vacation and no debt. I always wanted to go to the USA but now im like fuck that, you cant live a life there without shitloads of money. That will give me so much stress so i stay her in the Netherlands with my 34000 euro yearly salary. And yes i bought a house, have a 3 year old car, a little boat and 6 week per year vacation, plus only work 32 hours.

Except when rent is only $200 less a month and still doesn't cover utilities.

I just got laid off from my job and find myself in the EXACT same situation. I bought my house 2 years ago almost to the day and it took everything I had saved up, left me with nothing, and doomed me to a paycheck-to-paycheck existence. Now I’m not only broke I’m jobless with a grace period of only 2 weeks to find another one. Home ownership is not what people think it is anymore.

I haven’t lived in a world where a person could save like you said in 20 some years most people barely can make it. Because the job just don’t pay shit. Everything else keeps going through the roof, but but wages.

You need 12 months of an emergency fund not 3 to 6 months that flies by quick

The issue is renting is so ridiculously expensive as well.

The problem is that renting is more expensive for a very small place to

If buying a house wasn’t a good investment, investment groups wouldn’t be gobbling up the market. I bought a cheaper house because it’s what I could afford in 2015. Now my mortgage is half or a quarter what people pay in rent. And I get to keep the equity.

we need to stand united and fuck up the stock market to where everything crashes, reset this nonsense

Home ownership shouldn't be an investment, it's so you have a place to live!

You should be house flipping or exchanging houses every 5 to 10 years or however long

USA has stopped subsidized homes in the 70s. This stopped the boom of low cost housing. Now there's very little affordable homes & companies buying them to rent

Down payment on your home + 3-6 months bills thats like 100k

If you have the money to buy a house without needing a loan, then it is a good investment.
If you don't have that much money, you are most probably forced to pay more money in 15 years in rent than a house costs.
