Once my little girl of 4 years old was walking at the park when 2 yellow jackets stung her knees.
When I saw her precious tears I felt so angry and protective that I went to their nest and destroyed all of it and killed many of them that were flying around me.
I'm still surprised that I was not stung despite the many yellow jackets that were flying around me.
Yellow jackets are mean and they will sting you without reason.
Bees on the other hand never sting us, even though they're always around us, we plant flowers for them to invite them.

I have found on more than one occasion that a can of carburetor choke cleaner does the trick very nicely. The spray nozzle delivers a straight, solid, & strong stream. The nest can be sprayed from a distance. Each time I've used this method, none of them fly away or around. They simply drop straight down to the ground, dead...

I have paper wasps but mine aren't agressive to people at all. I like them. They eat bugs.

Soapy water. A pressure washer works well if it's really high up. Do not poke it with a stick.

I have one in my house right now. It flies into the livingroom and back out every so often. When it does this, I go look for it and can't find it. It is 20 til 6 in the morning. I've been up all night trying to get it out. Guess I'm going to have to take my chances since I have to get up for work in a while. Good I work 2nd shift I guess.

It's the YellowJackets and Bald-faced Hornets you gotta worry about.

In south east Asia they cook the larva & eat them. dry ice can be used with a plastic bag to kill them without poisoning the quality of the larva.
