Total Eclipse Of The Heart was #1 in the US for three weeks in 1983, and prevented "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" (which was at #2) from hitting the top spot.

This song played on radio at least 20 times per day. My girlfriend at the time (later-Wife) was a Rolling Skating Car Hop at "Angelo's" in Anaheim O.C. Calif and the loud speakers played it as the girls skated serving food to a packed parking lot. Great Memories.

Jim Steinman's magnum opus. He wrote and produced Meat Loaf's great albums but he hit the heights with this one. Actually he had written this for ML but he couldn't do it so he gave it to Tyler, who only delivered one of the great vocal performances ever. Absolute classic and awesome reaction bro

I didn’t fully understand the video when it came out in the 80s, but revisiting it now, listening to the words and the video graphics, it does have a deep spiritual meaning. It’s about a woman who is tormented by a codependent love while all along God is telling her to turn around and look at him. She’s going through mental anguish, confusion, battles, breakdowns, and turmoil over that love and God wanting to cover her with his love. It has meaning in symbols all over. Powerhouse vocals. Great musical production!
