When I lived in Germany, my girlfriend and I came across an igel (hedgehog). Under German law, if you come across an igel weighing less than 100 grams in the fall, you MUST take them in for the winter. That's exactly what we did and it was A GREAT six months. We released Miekisch in the spring.

Wild hedgehogs are endangered now in UK. I had 3 in my garden which I found as babies. I fed them and brought them up until they left to mate, I guess. That was about 11 years ago and I've never seen one since. They are wonderful creatures and so full of personality.
