Eco worthy 280AH Lifepo4 with Bluetooth

Hi Everyone, So in this Video we are finally giving Hamish our VW LT35 campervan a power source Upgrade, We have gone with @EcoWorthySolar 280AH 12v LifePO4 Lithium Battery and wow what a change, we are having some issues charging the battery with My Noco genius 10 battery charger so keep tuned to find out if we did manage to fix. we also installed a 40A DC to DC charger from @RenogySolar to make sure that we can keep the battery toped up as we travel from place to place. we are also ripping out the current fixed Bed to create a new Bunk bed system to allow more room for myself and the kids to sleep comfortably. #campervanconversion #campervanculture #vanlife #vwt4camper #vwscene

LiFePO4 batteries need to be charged at 14.4 +/- 0.2V. One of 280 - 300Ah needs a charger able to deliver at least 20A - preferably 30A - at that voltage. Lower or variable voltages as used to charge lead-acid or AGM batteries, won't charge them fully and will be very slow. The usual web auction/marketplace site has an offer at the moment where you can get the battery + matched, same-brand charger at a good discount.

Remember these batteries are designed to charge up to 14.6V and AGM chargers usually don't charge that high. Although some AGM chargers have configurable voltage output, most don't and stop in the 13V range which is the optimal float voltage for AGM batteries.

The issue with the noco genus may have to do with it's charging capacity, the specs for a noco 10 charger is up to 230 amp hours, the eco worthy battery you have is 280 that may affect it.

Shame the video was spoilt by all that crappy music

I see a serious issue with your lithium battery install!! The negative leads should be BEHIND the shunt!! . You should have nothing connected between shunt and battery.
Cheers from New Hampshire USA

I did a similar electrical rebuild on Saturday and switched to the eco worthy 100ah battery went victron mppt and dc to dc and smart shunt had to remove my ac to dc as mines wasn’t compatible with lithium. The other guy is right all your negatives should go to the shunt and only negative connected to the battery should be from the shunt. Currently in the south west corner of Ireland doing the wild Atlantic way and everything is working perfectly. Good luck hope you get it sorted out

Do not connect the battery negative directly to earth. All negatives go via the shunt. You can earth the non battery side of the shunt.

I just charged the same ecoworthy 280ah battery as yours using the same battery charger in my house before moving the battery to the van. Don't use the Noco charger in your van as it gets too hot when charging and reaaly isnt safe. I'll be selling mine. In my van i have the Victron 30ah charger which is a bit more expensive but is a lot quicker to charge than the 10ah noco. I now have 2 of the 280ah batteries so need to upgrade my dc to dc charger which is also 30ah. All fun and games🙂

I never had any issues charging mine but I'm using a 120V AC-> 14.6V DC charger at 20Amps, and two more at 40 amps all plugged into mains I don't trust those multi-mode battery chargers at all. Do one thing well or try to do everything badly and those multi-mode chargers tend to do everything badly. I can sleep well at night knowing that the chargers won't ever try to charge it as the wrong battery type / wrong voltage range.

You may want to upgrade them cables on the battery..
2000w inverter, look at the size of the cable coming off your inverter that’s one indicator to the gauge of wire..
Bigger is definitely safer so I’d go minimum 50mm cables coming off

Lifepo4 batteries can flow huge amps if anything shorts. you should have a class T fuse close as possible to pos batt terminal. EVERY hot wire needs a fuse on its battery side sized according to load and wire ampacity

exactly, try a different AC/DC charger, cheers, thanks for sharing

The Noco's solid green light indicates that it believes the battery is fully charged and will not output anymore current, why? Time to evaluate the Noco. Unplug the Noco's input power and check the output fuse located in the housing on the red lead. If the fuse is good, then plug it back in. What did it do? If the fuse is blown you will need to find out why. Good luck.

I have 2 of these batteries with the Eco-Worthy charger and the most i can get them charged is 13.5 and 13.8 volts. Why dont they charge higher and to the same voltage??

Dont know if someone has already stated this but with a 280Ah battery, any lithium battery really, Id maybe put a MRBF fuse directly onto the positive terminal of the battery as itll protect the cable from the battery directly, if you put a cable from the battery to a T series fuse then a cable to your devices then the cable going between the battery and fuse is at risk of fire. Just something to think about.

Could be the temperature, i have a ecoflow battery when the temp gets to cold it wont charge
