Great little machine with great tape transport system. Not junk. Plugged BT transmitter into head phone jack and run it through my home system and it sounds great. (I make tapes on a 80’s TEAC deck with VU meters.) 👍👍👍

My Stereos CD player broke a few weeks ago so I got this boombox as a replacement. I absolutely love it and listen to it all the time! Great review by the way, I learned some things i didn’t know about my boombox. Awesome! Thank you.

My friend got me this Sony when I was in the hospital (for a f***n month). I liked the way the design of the unit, easy to figure out and ergonomically placed buttons. I got the local college station which has a weak signal, a good thing. The CD player played the music quite dull.
I did not use the tape. I did not know about the Aux and headphones (until now). All in all this Sony kept my sanity while I was ill, so it's a good thing.

Thank you! I’ve had this for years and just now figured out how to use all the extra functions.

Thank you very much for this video with instructions on how to use it.
I have been using the CD player and the cassette player for over 4 years now, but haven't used the radio much. Over 4 years and it still works perfect. 👍
I just noticed today that it had presets on the radio stations. But no instruction book on how to set them.
I like the way you speak nice and slow enough to help people understand, and especially one step at a time.
You are a very good teacher, thank you very much.
One alteration I made was to write down the controls for the cassette player on a piece of white paper and tape it down on top of the CD lid, so I can see how to operate the cassette player.
(The symbols on the buttons for the cassette player are very hard to read.)
My only complaint is all of the buttons are hard to read, you have to get up real close.
I give this boombox
6 Stars. 😃

This Reminds me: I still do I still own lots and lots of Music CD'S from the 90's and 2000's from when I was Growing up as a Child I remember my Dad got me my 1st Portable CD Player I think in 2002 (when I was 4) I got hooked to it ever since I still use one of those to this Day and I'm still Attached to it almost 2 Decades Later since I don't care about Downloading Music on my Phone I had my Spotify for a Year and then I Canceled it Months Ago because I went back to using a Portable CD Player I think that's a better option since I'm Super Attached to it every time I get CD's from Amazon and from Thrift Stores I always Copy them in the Original Xbox Hard Drive and turn them into Custom Soundtracks and sit back and Listen to them I Currently have 67 Soundtracks on my Xbox so yeah I still Listen to Music CDs almost 20 Years Later since 2020 is right Around the Corner I'm going back to the Old School

I found one of these from the trash shed on the other day (must had been one of my neighbours). it was a bit dirty but i was curious if it truly was broken so i took it home. it's antenna was cut in half and it didn't play cd's so well...so i just took off part of the antennas tubing that was cut off and connected the rest together... even if it's now a bit shorter it receives signal well. I cleaned the cd-drivers laser with electronics cleaning alcohol and wiped it with a cotton swab . also i sprayed a some on cd holder and spun it my finger and cleaned the dirty plastic cover. and now i have a free perfectly working Sony boombox...
(the only down side is that the battery case cover was missing...but since it was free...who cares 😅).

Mine lasted about 5 years till the cassette player developed a loud hum. The rest of it still works.

Great review. How about recording from CD to a cassette and the quality? Unfortunately there are almost no new units except this Sony model and one Panasonic...

Thank you for all the details. After viewing this, I decided on the twice as expensive Panasonic one. Be aware, order the dual USA, UK model .

Is it a problem or defect to see stanby constantly displayed when the unit is off?

I get older Sony's, I love Sony but these days they make budget items or brand them and then they make better ones for more money you have to be careful so I just stick wth older ones and refurbish them.

I got this player as it plays MP3 CD's and has a sleep timer. (I like to be read asleep) It worked fine until it didn't. After 3 years it first began to stay in standby mode and wouldn't begin playing the CD's. I had to unplug and re plug the unit several times to get it to work. Soon after it began to insert silent gaps in the playback and soon after that would not hardly work at all. Also, since I would download books on CD and convert them to a MP3 format, if there were more than say 40 tracks on the CD. the player would began the playback at the track it decided was first. Bottom line this is a good player for the money but it only lasted 4 years. I expected more from a Sony.
