It still doesn't explain what the memory of the material is? How is the shape remembered, even with the dramatic change applied?  Why does it go back to that specific shape, even after all the atoms have been re-configured and changed atomic relationships completely? There would have to be some way that the original shape is remembered in the changed shape, at the atomic level. An atomic or sub-atomic memory would have to persist, throughout the change. Ice does not reform the same, just as there are infinite number of shapes of snowflakes, none of them the same shape at all.
