Play 2 it's a good idea for umpire to put his flag where the ineligible down field are instead of towards Los. This helps to verify where they were when the pass was thrown. Also if unsure where the pass was caught throw the flag anyway and have the wing give their input on behind or beyond los. Play 3 no reason to be at Los get to or near the deepest the linemen can go.

U could have passed on ineligible down field on play 3. The QB was throwing the ball away with zero attempt to hit a WR. The defense won this battle/play. no need for flag IMO.
