I think X rays don't harm you until you have been exposed to it for a long time and radiologists need to be behind a wall to not get exposed to it for longer periods.

It's because it's safe if you're only under it for a short amount of time.. But if you stay under it for a while it could harm you.. So the Doctors have to go behind a wall since they do many X-rays every day.

A standard X-ray has as much radiation exposure as a long haul flight. Not a problem. But the radiographer would get 30 exposures a day if they didn’t hide behind a wall, and that would be a problem.

Because you’re only exposed to it once. If they stayed near it with every patient, the dose would be large enough to increase the risk of cancer.
