Mercy, Mercy, Mercy...
You know, sometimes we're not prepared for adversity, When it happens sometimes we’re caught short. We don’t know exactly how to handle it when it comes up. Sometimes we don’t know just what to do when adversity takes over and I have advice for all of us. I got it from my pianist Joe Zawinul who wrote this tune and it sounds like what you’re supposed to say when you have that kind of problem and its called Mercy, Mercy, Mercy.

Today my late father is celebrating 3 months since he departed from this world to go be with the Lord and this was his favorite song whenever I play I get teary eyed because he taught all that I know about music today I can confidently say I'm a very young person with jazz knowledge that can put some oldies to shame lol

I remember this song, I'm 64, Dad and Mom would have family and friends over the house and would play this song and be dancing, this song reminds also of the struggle l

This is the first song I played on saxophone so many years ago.
Today im teaching it to a neighbor qho lost his son. This was their favourite, and when adversity hits, we are gonna answer with music.

His memory will live on, through his father's breath.

Thank you for this blessing.

Bless YouTube for making these precious old classic jazz pieces available to be heard again after 52 years on 1/14/18. So smooth, so cool, so confident. From the heydays of the Civil Rights Era. Music that will never die and go down in history.

First song I learned to play by ear was Mercy, Mercy, Mercy. I was 14 or 15 at the time. While the sound was not quite the same on a bass clarinet, my high school band director did recognize it and was amazed that I knew the song and the artist. I grew up listening because it was the only thing my dad allowed on HIS "new: Bogen stereo.

Heard this song so many years ago, then it was running through my head after seeing Wolf o' Wallstreet.

Live version is incredible ...

It seems life has played a game on me
I'm lost in a sea of misery
My love has turned her back on me
Heartache why won't you let me be
Chorus
Baby have some mercy please don't
Make me beg on bended knees oh please
Mercy, Mercy, Mercy Please have mercy on me
Mercy, Mercy, Mercy Please
Interlude
How can I face life, without you
What would I do if we were through?
Verse
I wait for you ev'ry single night
Hoping you'll return and make things right
You don't show and I'm left all alone
To pray you'll call me on the phone
Chorus
Baby have some mercy please don't
Make me beg on bended knees oh please
Mercy, Mercy, Mercy Please have mercy on me
Mercy, Mercy, Mercy Please
Interlude
you know I love you, I'm beging
for one more chance, once more.
Verse
I know life has many a twist
Loving you is the thing I can't resist
Your love and understanding you've been giving
Without it I just can't go on living
Chorus
Baby have some mercy please don't
Make me beg on bended knees oh please
Mercy, Mercy, Mercy Please have mercy on me
Mercy, Mercy, Mercy Please

I remember first-year physic reassessment # 2013, I had to listen to this over and over, crying and preparing to study for my second examination. This song was practically the only thing holding me together between my prayers.
