Family forest lands account for nearly one third of the state’s forest resources, contributing to important environmental, social, and economic values. In addition to one-on-one technical assistance available through the Oregon Department of Forestry and other partners, there are a number of state and federal programs designed to help small woodland owners accomplish their management objectives. This class will provide an overview of the technical and financial assistance programs available to woodland owners, discuss the requirements to participate in these programs, and provide some strategies for making best use of these resources. From pre-commercial thinning to improving forest health, to enhancing wildlife habitat or accomplishing restoration objectives, there are incentive programs available for most forest landowners in Oregon. We’ll walk through these programs and introduce you to the local partners available to help make your management objectives a success.
