A very good video giving a detailed overview on headless commerce. Yes, headless is the way to go for eCommerce. Headless are great for meeting unlimited user demands and scalability. Being a JavaScript Developer, I'm a big fan of NodeJS technology for how it scales.

Reaction Commerce and Spurtcommerce are NodeJS eCommerce Solutions and they both are headless. I'm comparing both of them now for my upcoming eCommerce project.
