The concept of warp drives basically makes it where you aren't moving hardly at all, the bubble you're in is slipping through the fabric of reality, and you're just a long for the ride in said bubble.

As far as I understand it, the warp drive is where you compress the space in front of you rather than just trying to travel fast enough. It's like if you want to get from one side of a rug to the other quicker than walking but without speeding up, rather than walking across it, you crumple and scrunch up the rug in front of you to bring the other side closer, then just hop right across.

For humans to be able to travel to other solar systems, cutting down the time of travel isn't viable at all. We'll never be able to travel fast enough. The only option is to not cut the time, but to cut the distance itself. We'd need a legit warp drive to do this.
