I like that the recovery bag is a backpack. Most are a duffel, but you may have to scramble up a hillside to get to another vehicle, and that’s harder to do with your hands full.

Thanks for the informative movie. I have never seen what the "winch" is like other than in films. Very knowledgeable for my work. Thanks!

When you connect to a hitch shackle, if you rotate hitch 90 degrees so shackle swings left to right instead of up & down you prevent side loading of shackle.

Brand new to winching here! This was an excellent video but I have one question…are you in neutral as you pull yourself up the hill? What about when you’re pulling someone else? Is it parking brake only? I’ve heard so many ways to do this but I’d just like the right way so I don’t destroy anything.😂

If you're relying on the strength of the cross member as the basis for the viability of the hitch attachment, why not just put the shackle around the cross member itself and corcumvent the need for that heavy block of metal?

Gotta be honesty. I put an apex
On my trailer but have an American made zeon on my Jeeps. I’m going to try a giggle pin on my next build.

The shackles on the anchor points of the vehicule, do they also have to turn back a quarter turn? Or do you tighten them very hard? Cause you don't want to use your shacle while driving, right? I'm Dutch speaking so I hope I explained my question correct lol

thanks for the great info, Justin!
I was wondering, why bother with the clevis hook at all? It sounds like an error-prone and often redundant piece of metal in the system. Why not just wind up the bare cable with only a bump stop when driving, then connect a soft shackle or steel shackle through the thimble when the time comes to use the winch? I have a reinforced soft shackle, so the poly braid would be protected from any abrasions caused by running through the thimble, or I could run the screw of a steel shackle through the thimble. Both styles of shackle have a higher WLL than the standard hook.
Thanks again!

Great video. how far was your remote cable plugged into the winch control pack? i just installed mine and it wont power. the bluetooth isnt working and the hardwired doesnt power up. it seems like the cable that plugs into the control pack doesnt go in that far. i try to push it in but there is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch it is not going in.

Grade 70 Chain 1/2" only has a working load of 6, 660#, not sure I'd want to use it to pull off of, maybe use it to wrap a tree saver and keep it in place?
