NASA JSC Unveils 'Valkyrie' DRC Robot
"When we visited the JSC team to meet their DRC robot, we had no idea what to expect. Or rather, we were expecting to see something like Robonaut's torso on top of a pair of beefy legs."

Valkyrie, coming from the Norse 'angels' of the same name, were always female. The Valkyrie bot, if assigned a gender. would have to be female.

If her name's 'Valkyrie' she's not Iron Man: she's Rescue.

Robots are a great idea until their chest glows red.

In the war between humans and machines, I know who's side I'm on.

Here's a hint, it's not team meatbag

She'd be perfect to take my dogs for a walk when it's -40, cause that's somewhere no man or woman wants to go.

it looks quite impressive, and the sonar, and cameras are cools too, but until i can see what he can do, i cant judge his performance,

YES! this is going to be awesome! robots fighting wars instead of humans, robots going into dangerous situations to save humans. the future is going to be much safer.

Meanwhile in China they have a city dedicated to spawning some sophisticated AI in the form of such robots.. No DARPA iPhone in the shape of a human, but working towards the maid from the Jetsons - some seriously intelligent shizzle. Ironic that for some reason I'm more afraid of the US building intelligent robots than China.... I guess China wasn't represented in the Matrix as much.

I have no emotion towards this fight or flight dilemma, but an overwhelming sensation of 'about friggin time!' If you catch my drift. Thank you very much!

Robotics are CRUCIAL for space exploration. We simply can't take the same risks, especially in terms of radiation exposure. Robotics are the future as far as space is concerned

It reminds me of something you'd get if Azimo and a Cylon had a child, but an awesome one

I love how fast we are approaching robotics. Which is why I still believe human augmentation will be here by 2021

Am I the only one seeing the pun they made? Valkyrie or 'Val' with a glowing light, going into space, helping humans.. like HAL.
