Something similar happened to me years ago while trailering my boat back to Carson City Nv from So. California. Dual axle trailer lost a wheel bearing, tore up the spindle, shredded the tire. This happened just out of Bishop Ca. about 170 miles from my house. At about 8 pm! I managed to tie up the axle to the trailer frame with ratchet straps and proceeded to drive home..at about 20 miles per hour. It was a very long stressful night. But we made it back safe.
So glad you folks had the good fortune to have this happen early in the day and the wonderful people in that small community who pitched in to help. And my hats off to you for remaining calm and clear minded. You both seem like a very nice couple.

Another lesson learned is not to give up on the kindness of strangers. Big Shout-out to Draper, SD. Here's to a kinder 2025!

That is the grace of God watching over you two people. We have been blessed with this several times traveling over the past 27 years.

What a level-headed couple of episodes. No click-bait, no drama, no rediculous thumbnails, etc. Very down to earth and thoughtful set of episodes. Sorry this happened, but glad it all worked out favorably. Definitely provided some food for thought for those towing vehicles, including TOADs behind Class A's. I am moving where I store my handheld temperature gun so I actually use it more often as I too have been relying too much on the temperature readings coming from the TPMS sensors. Thanks! Best...

I’m so glad it was not worse. You are so lucky to have it happen where it did. Kindness of the locals just shows the real goodness in people given the opportunity.
It is also a testament to the MORryde independent suspension, running only on the three wheels without dragging the 4th hub.
As for the TireMinder, since you did not find the wheel, you can't say it lost air, and the system was working. It was not meant for tracking runaway tires.
I am so grateful for our TireMinder, it has saved us twice from what could have been disasters that could have been much worst.
Even though the batteries might last longer I still change all the batteries on the TireMinder same time every year.
In the end, it was a very stressful situation that was handled correctly by all involved.

I can attest to the kindness of the people of rural South Dakota. In the mid 70s, I was a Minuteman Missile Crewmember back when there was a missile wing at Ellsworth AFB outside Rapid City. Two of us left a Launch Control Center near Faith, SD one very cold winter morning for the drive back to the main base. We got a flat tire and then discovered that the motor pool had but the wrong jack in the vehicle. A local rancher stopped, picked us up, and went out of his way to take us to another LCC, saving us from a very long, cold wait in below zero conditions. This was not unusual. The locals would often help out AF personnel traveling in the missile field, particularly during the harsh, cold, winters.

So glad that you had good fortune amid your very stressful and potentially tragic situation. It's a good thing that you were in the part of the country where people tend to be kind and helpful.

I'm glad that everything worked out so well for you!

I would be concerned about the other 3 wheels because the person that repacked your bearings at 14000 may not have done them correctly or used incorrect grease. We had hired someone to replace our bearings after a failure. I was watching him install the grease, and I knew he was doing it wrong. We wouldn't have gotten very far with the way he was trying to grease the bearings. Just because someone says they know how to do something doesn't mean that they actually do. Keep checking the temps of those hubs.

May you have safe travels throughout 2025!

To say you were blessed would be an understatement between the location, people who came to your aid, ability to park at the shop, solar to aid in the camping arrangement, warranty covering items, and quick work doing the install at the shop. All I can say is wow! No one wants to have an rv issue but it seems if you had to have one it couldn’t have worked out any better. Glad you’re safe and back on the road.

This guys is what people in my community would call “a God thing.” Everything you needed was provided, in ways that shouldn’t even have been possible. I’m so thankful that you are safe and back on the journey.

I wonder if this has ever happened a lot to other RV owners of the same model. I am glad you all and the dogs are fine and no one got hurt. i am glad that the Rv remained solid and fixable at the end. This is truly a great learning experience to other Rvers regardless of manufacturer or model, things do happen for reasons we can only guess what could have caused them. Can't wait for another episode, thanks guys.

I'm not surprised about the missing tire. Why? A year ago we drove our motorhome towing our Toad from home to a campground 60 miles away. When we left home we had a Bike on a bike rack on the back of the Toad. When we arrived at the CG the bike rack was completely intact... but the bike was gone. We made NO stops between home and the CG. After finding the bike missing and the rack perfectly intact we took the toad and retraced our steps twice. From home to the CG both directions. NOTHING. Checked with state patrol no reports of bikes on I-10. just disappeared. So, wherever your tire is, there's probably a mountain bike with it.

We have been full timing for 19 years and during that time we have had our share of mishaps, and I think every single time “Road Angels” appeared, seemingly out of nowhere to help us. I’m glad it all worked out for you. Safe travels and I love your channel.🙏❤️🇺🇸🐾

I recently saw a tip that I plan on using. Buy a cheap aftermarket backup camera and mount it low on bumper so it shows the undercarriage of the camper. You can monitor it while driving. I've blown 2 tires and never once heard or felt anything. Didn't know till I got the dreaded car pull up next to me honk and point to my trailer. Safe travels!

Legend has it to this day that tire is still rolling through the fields...wandering, searching for home...never to be seen again.

This had a much better outcome than expected after last week’s video. It’s reassuring to hear how complete strangers responded to a dire situation. And kudos for the stellar service from Moryde and the shop that did the repairs. Safe travels going forward!

We've been in many similar situations during our 7 years of fulltime RVing. God has always provided the right people to come along and provide assistance. And we always try to see the blessings instead of getting bent out of shape. God's hand was certainly evident in your incident. And y'all stayed so calm throughout.

What an awesome story. God was most certainly watching over you. I've lived in SD my whole life and never heard of Draper. Yes, great thing you weren't there in the winter. Happy travels.
