Drive-By Truckers' 'Danko/Manuel': Guitar Arrangement & Lesson

The Drive-By Truckers have an expansive and impressive body of work. If I had had to choose only one album by them, it'd be "The Dirty South." It's got some of the best songwriting by all the members, and a great balance to it.

My Truefire "Guitar Zen" Courses:

Rig Rundown:
1966 Fender Mustang
1964 Silvertone 1484

Thanks for watching!

Thank you sir for this great lesson. It really shows that you do these lessons because you love to do them, you aren't showing ads or trying to sell stuff. Excellent job!

I do like this song, and the drive by truckers, but your version is so much more colorful. And for you to teach us your rendition with theory intact is remarkable. I unabashedly look forward to the weekend, to see what you post next. Fanboyism completed. Ps: Good to see the stang back in service.

Man, you really captured the melancholy melody of that tune. Really cool to see how you make these instrumental arrangements work so well. Thanks for sharing all your tricks with us! I like that "throwing triads at other triads" bit. Tasty stuff, Eric!

Another great lesson full of arranging tricks. You definitely influence my playing in a good way. Even if not practicin your exact arrangements, watching your videos gives me plenty of new ideas.

Man, your tone is killer, no matter which gear you use. I'm almost thinking I should try using a flatpick again for the first time in 20 some years.

I am a metal guy in my core, but this is why I come here. Just to relax with these sweet sounds.

Jason would be proud and maybe a bit jealous of your interpretation. He typically plays it with a capo on the second fret and it's much easier to play that way to me, but, you nailed it. Now I'm gonna have to learn it your way too. Keep 'em com'n.
