That was a good win by India although they came under pressure towards the end after 2 run outs but managed to win. And Sadagopan Ramesh batted very well in this match, he was a good timer of the ball and in this game he played Wasim and Shoaib well and with ease. He was a good enough opener and a bit underrated

Shoaib Akhtar was so perfect those days. I watched all these matches live. But he could not maintain such fierce bowling with perfect line length nd speed. After wc99 he changed his bowling action and also got knee problems and lost his effectiveness. I remember those days when i was a school going boy nd whenever he was hit for a boundary I used to tell my cousins, "hey he was hit for boundary." But he rarely allowed the batsmen to him for boundary. What a fearsome bowler he was! Those days Tendulkar was out of team. Nd we often said that I will accept him the best bowler if he got sachin out because sachin was our hero those days. One day that moment came during 99 Calcutta test. He bowled him on the very first delivery nd i felt heart broken nd said he was really unplayable. Great player.
