Paradox therapy -design principles of personalization, real-world connection, and common intellectual mission

Larry Rosenstock CEO / Founder -- High Tech High

Larry Rosenstock is CEO and founding principal of High Tech High, a network of innovative and high-achieving charter schools and is President of the High Tech High Graduate School of Education in California.

As the former director of the New Urban High School Project, (an effort funded by the U.S. Department of Education to find and describe new models for urban high schools) Larry Rosenstock and his team created three design principles they found common in successful urban high schools. These design principles are personalization, real-world connection, and common intellectual mission. High Tech High is the first school in the country to be designed based on those principles.

Larry and his work as an educational entrepreneur and innovator have been featured on Oprah, Lehrer, Newsweek, and Forbes. He is a winner of the Ford Foundation Innovations in State and Local Government Award, is an Ashoka Fellow, and has won the McGraw Prize in Education.

TED was founded in 1984. The annual TED conference brings together the world's leading thinkers and doers to share ideas that matter in a variety of disciplines -- technology, entertainment, science, humanities, business, art, design. Short talks, demonstrations and performances are given by hand-picked beacons of inspiration, and all volunteer their time and expertise for no money. They do it for the experience, for the TED name, and for the chance to be heard and share their passion.

In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED has created TEDx, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
