The UFC will debut the new flyweight division beginning with a four-man tournament to help narrow down the inaugural champion in this exciting new weight class. For the top contenders in this competition, this opportunity is a long time coming and a validation of each of their journeys.

I think people get confused by weight classes and think these guys are smaller than they are. a guy that's 125 on weigh-in day can be almost 140 in the cage, and if they weren't in the incredible shape they are, they'd be closer to 160 as average sized, maybe a little short, but pretty average sized guys.

I'm thinking of joining, but I'm not really sure how.. I'm 19 yrs, 5'5, 110 lbs, some general knowledge and feel for martial ats and real thirst for competing in UFC. Soon I'll be restarting my boxing/mma classes if I find the time and have some hope of actually competing within a year or two.

These guys are fun to watch, I actually prefer bantamweight - welterweight than the higher weightclasses, they can be awesome too but there's just something more dynamic about the smaller guys for me

These guys keep a very high paced fight so it's awesome to watch in my opinion.

Bantam weight is my fav at the moment because it's always action packed, don't get me wrong I like the other weight classes too but they're just not as explosive as the lower weightclasses are!

Dude theyr exciting not only cuz theyr quick, but b/c of their athletic ability. Jumping in the air doing flying knees and shit at such a high pace. I think thats pretty cool.

yeah but they could have at least mentioned his name. they were in japan for ufc 144 ...they could have shot some footage or paid someone to shoot some footage like they do with paula sack for the brazilian fighters. this guy was clearly brought in for benvidez to smash.

@INaneek i train mma at flyweight class. i'm a small dude so your kinda saying that a flyweight must fight against a bantamweight?? it's not fair. i'm glad they have some kind of weight class for small mma fighters.

i love how when dominick says that "Joeseph Benevidez is basically a 125 version of Urijah Faber" its like he means it as a burn. That's the biggest compliment someone could give you, you are like a smaller version of one of the most explosive, dominant champions.
