History is already being made as a number of African Americans are taking on the roles of some of the most important positions in America’s largest city.

New York City now has its second-ever Black mayor in Eric Adams, its first Black woman police commissioner in Keechant Sewell and Manhattan has its first Black district attorney in Alvin Bragg, joining the ranks of several other Black leaders who were elected or appointed in recent months.

BNC legal contributor Paul Henderson and criminal defense attorney Bernarda Villalona join Yodit Tewolde on “Making the Case” to discuss what this new Black leadership could mean in a state where the prison infrastructure is one of the largest in the country.

All this and more on “Making the Case.”

This guy is a cop. Skin colour don’t mean shit. He’s re-implementing stop and frisk.

This is all symbolism. Black puppets in power is not tantamount to transformative, progressive change for a voting bloc and racial demographic that is far too often marginalized.
