Always thought nose art on planes was awesome. They should do it more on ships, I never saw a boat with teeth before

I like how so much of war is pragmatic, disciplined, and stoic. But then there’s the shark tooth paintings on aircraft basically for the reason of “dude, it’s badass!”

No, it’s the most powerful gun with an aircraft mounted on it...

Portugal also used that kind of nose art during the portuguese colonial war (1961-1974).

Remember, if you are ever fighting the US just know that if you hear the of an A-10 Warthog firing you were not the intended target.

the nose art made it easier to hit the pilot with boults from the ground .. and you wonder why this paint job is not done anymore

The Roland C.II was also known as the "Walfisch", so it made sense to paint a large "shark style" mouth on it. This plane had a few interesting paint schemes as well. One had fish scales, another a mouth like a fish. It was a fairly formidable plane for it's time as it was made of an all wood fuselage, which was hard to shoot down. Armed with a rear facing Parabellum MG14 and a forward facing Spandau, it was a tough kill for an inexperienced pilot. The Red Baron (MvR) actually started his long WWI career flying them in late 1915.

USAF F-4s in Vietnam had shark's teeth. And VF-111, the USN fighter squadron had shark's teeth nose art for decades from F-8s, to F-4s, to F-14s.
Thank you for the video!

"No, Colonel, we didn't pain the shark faces on our planes to look cool, it's totally for scaring the enemy, trust me on this"

The Fairchild Republic A-10 'Warthog' aircraft firing 30mm depleted uranium ammo in front of its enemies from above with the fearsome shark jaw paint job is the most scary thing to the enemy and most joyful thing to its allies at the same time! 4:31- 5:03

The A-10 Warthog aircraft is so devastating that the Taliban nicknamed it “The Dragon”.

My uncle George Klein was a US sergeant during WWII and was based in the uk. He was great at art and painted many a plane nose during the war before returning home with my British aunty as his bride Mary. Both are passed on now but im extremely proud of the both. May they rest in peace.
