The government doesn’t want the everyday person to succeed.

What about estate agents causing part of the problem by inflating house prices to such a high level most 1st time buyers are priced out of market £425000 for a first home wow, 95% of first time buyers without a huge help from parents would no way have 10% deposit. The uk housing market is stuffed with overpriced homes. It isn’t labour government fault for changing the stamp duty . It’s all governments since the Second World War have failed to provide affordable housing, no reinvestment of sold council properties. Banks shouldn’t offer mortgages longer than 25 years if you can’t afford you can’t buy it. If enough people say no I am not paying the inflated price prices they will have to drop.To sum up banks, estates agents and the uk government are to blame for the housing crisis.

You should point out that this was always going to happen, the previous gov set this up, Labour haven’t changed it.

can’t think why anyone would want to buy anything for more than 200k! a 400k mortgage will cost you 2200 a month! fools.

But It's NO/ZERO stamp duties on a brand new first time home under £300, 000 is that correct. Even after April..

Really find your information useful. One question I’m an oldie on this one. When I purchased my house over 30 years ago I don’t remember stamp duty, you paid for the house over 25 years and that was your mortgage that was it.

I read the other day that those who are selling who currently pay SD on anything £250k upwards will as of April 1st next year have to pay SD on anything £125k upwards down from the current £250k threshold. Does that sound about right?
