Former Soviet leader Gorbachev dies

Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has died aged 91, Russia's Interfax News Agency has reported.

Mr Gorbachev was credited with ending the Cold War with the West.

But his drive to open up the bloc’s economy – known as perestroika - led to the break-up of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Gorbachev is a big reason why the world survived the Cold War. One of the great men of the 20th century. Werner Herzog's 2018 documentary _Meeting Gorbachev_ is worth watching today.

R.I.P Gorbachev. Reagan and him were great friends and showed the world on how to work through uncertainty and rough times. I wish Putin would've learned a lesson or two from him.
