My dad was the tester of carbon at carbon black in Altona Melbourne australia in the 70s and 80s but the plant shut down and moved overseas because of epa envoironment laws . As a kid I thought it was amazing how big the place was and they diverted by product over the road to a petroleum refinery . Probably gases and steam . Amazing tech even back in the 30 and 1940s. Probably earlier
