I read "The Giver" over the last couple days to join your readathon, and I really enjoyed it! I love dystopian fiction, I just read "We" last month. Also I really enjoy your channel, I'm glad I found it!

I'm so happy you made this because I've been wanting to read some great dystopian fiction since it's one of my favourite genres, and I haven't heard of The Giver and Parable of the Sower! The latter sounds so intriguing, especially since the majority of the dystopians that I've read have few female protagonists. And The Giver also sounds interesting, I don't think I've ever read a dystopian with a child as the protagonist!

Great video..I love all those books so much..also The Road by Cormac McCarthy, On the Beach by Neville Shute (old fashioned but so good), the time Machine by HG Wells and I have a little book called ‘I have waited, you have come’ by Martine McDonagh which just appealed to me..because it crosses dystopia with an unusual protagonist who feels stalked or maybe she is stalking...it became a book I have to keep on my shelf because I just enjoyed the story so much. It is only a short book. It isn’t as good as the greats you mention but it is still an entertaining read

Just purchased The Parable of the Sower and The Giver - thanks for the recommendations! I’m also planning on reading Brave New World for #endoftheworldweek which has been on my TBR for a while. It’s a re-read for me but it’s been about 20 years since I read it last so remember very little about it!

Thank you for your video.
Last month I read 'Parable of the Sower.' I do not like dystopian but it was a pick for a virtual book club. I found it rather intriguing.

I missed this video 7 months ago, but it is timely for my current and future tbr. I am listening to the audiobook of The Machine Stops which is weird since everyone voluntarily keeps apart. l plan to start The Children of Men on Jan 1st because the book begins on 1/1/2021. Hopefully I won't find it too depressing since I am trying to stay away from books that are too upsetting right now

Could you review 'Prey World" by Alexander Merow? It is a great German dystopian novel

Im currently working on 1984. I have heard of the surprising relevance of the book to society today, I don’t think I have picked up on it just yet. I have read The Giver and enjoyed it. Did you continue reading the following books in the series?

Would you consider HP Lovecraft to be dystopian?

Nice recommendations! I really need to read something by Olivia E. Butler. I was thinking of reading Kindred. Do you think that's a good place to start or would you recommend Parable of the Sower, instead?
