‘Government has no business to be in business’: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday made his strongest pitch for privatisation of non-strategic PSUs, saying the government has no business to be in business and sustaining loss-making units on taxpayers' money drains resources that could otherwise have been spent on public welfare schemes. "It is government's duty to support enterprises and businesses. But it is not essential that it should own and run enterprises," the Prime Minister said at a webinar on the privatisation approach in the Budget for 2021-22. "The government has no business to be in the business," he said. "Modernise and monetise is the motto we will follow." Watch the full video for more.

Almost all of the public sector companies are running in loss.
Reason-
1-Mismanagement
2-Less investment in PSUs. So they are unable to expand their business.
3-Lethargic Beaurocracy.
4-Corruption etc

जब देश में सुनामी आई थी और जान माल के साथ अरबों रुपए का नुकसान हुवा था तब सरकार ने निजी बैंको और कंपनियों से मदद मांगी थी, तो जवाब मिला कि हम बिजनेस करने आए हैं न कि चैरिटी करने, फिर मुंह लटका कर सरकार एलआईसी के पास गई और फिर जो हूवा वो सब जानते हैं ।

Feeling bad for profit making PSUs who were forced to invest in loss making entities and were unable to compete properly due to government policies...BSNL was not awarded with 4G spectrum until few days back and ONGC, LIC was forced to buy loss making PSUs and Banks
