iZotope VocalSynth 2 Plug-in - Expert Review

In this exclusive video review, we take iZotope's new VocalSynth 2.0 plug-in for a test drive.

So What’s New In VocalSynth 2?

- Redesigned UI with new funky display in the centre that combines both metering and volume level controls
- Extra expanded controls have been added to each of the modules
- New synth module called Biovox
- Two new effects Chorus & Ringmod

At the top of the UI we’ve got this new page that shows users how to set up vocal synth 2 up in a handful of different modes. For this video we set VocalSynth 2 in MIDI mode, meaning we can control the vocal line with a MIDI keyboard or performance.

Two things to consider: (1) If you have Vocal Synth 1 or Standard, Sweetwater has good upgrade prices like $79 or $99 depending on your upgrade. (2) Concerning CPU overloads, as some have complained of Nectar 2 also (which I have)...why not print the Vocal track, or use Commit Track in Pro Tools after you have finalized satisfaction...and then on playback it’s simply a committed audio file with no instrument/plugin insert active. Then create your stems for mastering. Just a thought, but it’s what I often do to minimize CPU.

hmm not bad.. but how many songs use a vocoder.. not many.. interesting plugin but what could it be useful for?

lets be honest folks, at this point do we REALLY need another vocoder? Especially one that claims to have talkbox sounds? I have yet to hear ANY vocoder match a talk-box to me they're two quite different animals.
