Everybody's automatically becomes an expert when they're sitting anonymously behind a keyboard. Isn't the internet wonderful? Haha

We have a similar situation on our project (window header carrying a beam, not youtube engineering), and our structural engineer concurs that it’s completely fine. In fact, he also showed how in some situations it can be better as the header distributes the load down to two posts vs one, thus reducing the need for any sort of underpin for an existing foundation for the respective support.

Strong and straight load path. Not going to budge! Thanks for sharing! 😁👍

Sure probably not fail but personally I would move that window 2 feet forward and have a peace of mind. Said a guy on YouTube who doesn’t even make a living in the construction field 😅

I appreciate the engineering and sure it works perfect, but I'm curious why someone would choose to put a window there in the first place. Why did it have to be in that exact spot?

This is the first I'm seeing this garage so; first, it's unfortunate that Matt would get that kind of flack. It's not like he hasn't done this before.

That said, I do have to ask, why put the window there? Why not move the window or place two windows on either side? I get that it passes from an engineering point but it does seem like a lot of punishment for nothing.
